How Lomans makes quality & safety visible to everyone in the organization and practically applies it with ISO2HANDLE

“The software is so flexible and has such powerful features that you can do everything in one system. This makes a significant difference in licensing costs, which are already not too high in the case of ISO2HANDLE.”

In 1918, Frans Lomans started an electric light store in the center of Amersfoort. Now, more than 100 years later, Lomans provides electrical installations that enable buildings throughout the Netherlands to function and perform optimally. Lomans still has the character of a family business, but with 400 employees and its own Academy. For over three years, Die Academy has been providing in-house BBL programs from (soon) its own building and with regular MBO teachers. Personal guidance is central to this course and the students are very involved and enthusiastic.

What was the challenge?

Personal development is a common thread and the primary necessity of Manager KAM Richard van Lingen. In addition to personal development, there was also a lot to develop in business when Richard joined Lomans in January 2020.

“At that time, the organization looked at the KAM department as the supplier of quality and safety,” says Richard.

According to him, a healthier approach was that quality and safety should belong to everyone in the organization and that you would want to properly safeguard those topics in your primary processes.

“It took a lot of time, lobbying and persuasion, but we can say that we are now a long way on the right track. Within each Lomans department, time is now being made available for KAM, which has landed the quality/safety function well into the various departments of the organization.”, says Richard.

To professionally manage quality and safety management, Lomans is supported by ISO2HANDLE software.

Do you have questions?

Why did you choose ISO2HANDLE?

“There are many systems on the market that can support quality and safety management. But after a thorough evaluation of all these systems, only one system was released that was fully suitable for effectively managing quality, environment and safety. That is the expectation we have of ISO2HANDLE. The platform's capabilities seem unprecedented,” says Richard.

“The software is so flexible and has such powerful features that you can do everything in one system. This makes a significant difference in licensing costs, which are already not too high in the case of ISO2HANDLE.”

“What also helps enormously is that you don't have to buy extra modules with ISO2HANDLE if you're just getting started. You simply get all the functionality for one fair price. You can make as much or as little of it as you want. And where you need help setting up specific customization, ISO2HANDLE is always ready to help you quickly.”

What did that choice result in?

The first meters have been completed and a solid basic setup of the system has been set up. After thorough process optimization, all new processes have been made transparent to everyone in the organization via the software.

Asset management is expected to be professionalized via the ISO2HANDLE platform in the coming months. Both the issue and collection as well as maintenance, repair and inspection are then managed via the software. This saves an enormous amount of manual work and no more things are overlooked.

Through a link with the existing ERP system, a risk analysis will soon be done automatically per phase of a newly acquired project. In addition, for each identified risk, specific employees are urged by the system to take and register their control measures. This is how a super effective risk management module has been set up. Risks are identified as soon as they arise and are immediately placed in the right place in the organization for mitigation, with the handling also being monitored automatically.

How easy was it to set up the ISO2HANDLE?

“Because the system has endless possibilities, the learning curve can be called style, especially in the beginning. Fortunately, good help from ISO2HANDLE is always close by. The first steps have now been taken and we are going to expand by setting up various APIs to extract information from other applications.”, says Richard.

The coming period is reserved for prioritizing processes and involving and training ICT people so that they get a better insight into the functionality and possibilities of ISO2HANDLE.

All in all, it is a 'work in progress' and Lomans is well on the way.
