What is TAPA?

TAPA is the acronym for the Transported Asset Protection Association. As the name suggests, this is a forum where producers, logistics service providers, carriers, police, justice and other stakeholders are united. This does not apply to a single country, but is actually active worldwide. The participants have a common goal: to limit losses (including due to crime) in the logistics sector.

The TAPA Certification

Thanks to TAPA, the security level in the logistics sector has been standardized. In order to optimally monitor and maintain that security level, guidelines have been created. If a logistics service provider or carrier complies with these guidelines, they can call themselves TAPA certified. The certification ensures that its holder makes demonstrable use of secure business processes and that, as a result, the security of the goods is optimal.

More than 600 certified members

TAPA now has quite a number of members in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and America. This number continues to grow and currently it is an organization with more than 600 members. The combined turnover of all at TAPA

affiliated companies amount to more than 900 billion dollars annually.

The benefits of TAOA at VTS

TAPA certification offers many advantages for a company in the logistics sector. Thanks to the high standards, TAPA certification also offers new opportunities to distinguish yourself from the competition.

In short, the TAPA standard boils down to the following:

  • The participant is aware of the security risks and has taken adequate measures to identify and minimize the risks.
  • A TAPA certificate is very distinctive compared to companies without a TAPA certificate.
  • Quality and reliability in the supply chain are guaranteed by means of the certificate.
  • It is immediately clear to relationships that your company has done everything in its power to limit damage caused by crime.

Managing and Monitoring TAPA

Management System

Why a digital management system for TAPA?

Many organizations have already switched from a “handbook in the closet” to an environment such as SharePoint or a Document Management System to also be able to view their documentation remotely.

But then these questions and sources of stress linger:

  • How can staff easily understand compliance with customs legislation?
  • What training did my staff have received?
  • Why can't I easily do my registrations?
  • How do I get an overview of pending tasks?
  • How do I safeguard the processes in the organization?
  • How do I really understand which processes need to be tackled structurally differently?
  • How do I inform and convince my colleagues of the usefulness of certain processes?
