Sustainable business from one KMS
As a QHSE/KAM manager, you have a lot to manage. Continuous improvement covers all aspects of companies and organizations. If risk management is also part of your scope, it will not be even more beautiful, it will also be more comprehensive. In the field of sustainable business, there are current developments, which will also land on the QHSE/KAM manager's plate. ISO14001 was of course already known as an environmental standard. But CSRD and the associated environmental and sustainability aspects are added.
Multi or mono?
With the increase in regulation on sustainable business, we are also seeing all kinds of digital tools springing up that specialize in managing these topics. CSRD, in particular, seems to be an attractive market for these types of tools. The question we sometimes get asked lately is whether it is smart to use such a tool, or whether it is better to use your KMS for that. That is a legitimate question and we would like to address it.

Is specialization always good?
From specialized environment/CSRD-software can be expected to function for the purpose for which it was created. We have no value assessment about that. You could investigate that for yourself if you find it worthwhile. In a tour of the fields, you will discover what the most important differences are. But while you're doing that round, a few questions immediately arise.
How does that specialized software connect to your other software, such as ERP (enterprise resource planning) or a KMS (quality management system)? What does it cost to create and maintain these links? And how many systems do you really want to have up and running for certain task areas in your organization?
Our experience is that the connectability of sustainability/CSRD software with other systems isn't always obvious. If you're lucky, API links are woven into that software's architecture. But that is not often - or only partly - the case. Is there a complete API for all data in the system or can only a limited number of data points be linked? In addition, you might wonder how many business processes you want to connect to each other with links. Clutches After all, after the initial investment, you also need maintenance and the associated costs. It's good to know that the challenge with links is always two-sided. If your own software can connect everything you can imagine, it's still not the case at the other end of the line. So the motto is, the less you depend on links, the better.
Apart from the above, IT departments would rather have fewer than more systems up and running. Aside from the costs, this also includes concerns about information security. The more applications you use, the greater the risk scope for IT. The basic attitude of every IT department is understandable and justified: no extra software if it is not necessarily necessary.
What does integration thinking provide?
ISO2HANDLE was established in 2016. At that time, there were many specialized software packages in the market for standards and industry-oriented quality and risk management. So you had separate packages for ISO9001 and VCA, but also packages for healthcare, transport, petrochemicals and the food processing industry. If you were unlucky, you worked side by side with more handbooks and software packages. That did not make life easy for the QHSE/KAM manager. Unsuspecting employees usually didn't know which handbook to look at and the chaos was complete.
At the time (and still), ISO2HANDLE had a 180 degree different view of things. A framework was developed soon after its inception, from which it was relatively easy to manage literally almost any standard or guideline imaginable. One system that effectively supports the principle of continuous improvement. Continuous improvement by working consistently from a PDCA cycle. This ISO2HANDLE system is completely separate from standards, but can effectively facilitate all known standards.

Sustainable business and the CSRD Directive
So that's what integration thinking results in. One system from which you can effectively manage all imaginable standards via the PDCA cycle. A system that you can also flexibly configure yourself and without technical knowledge to suit your business situation exactly.
Components for sustainable business and CSRD have now also been added to that system.
With the sustainability module you manage everything about waste, CO2 registration and dangerous substances. You can easily arrange your registration, management and improvement cycles via the ISO2 HANDLE platform.
There is no supplier of quality and risk management software that is as complete as ISO2HANDLE. Everything you need to manage quality and risk in the broadest sense is in the sustainability ISO2HANDLE app. All the features you could ever need in one ISO27001 certified SaaS solution.
