What is CO2 Performance Ladder?
The CO2 Performance Ladder has its origins in ProRail. This company has developed the CO2 Performance Ladder and has therefore been used in tenders in the railway sector since 2009. The effectiveness of this CO@ performance ladder did not go unnoticed and more organizations began to show interest in employability. In addition to the railway sector, others also appeared sectors to benefit from using this tool.
Explanation of the ladder in a nutshell
The CO2- Performance ladder is a CO2-management system that consists of 5 levels. Up to and including level 3, an organization will work on its own organization's emissions (and all projects). From levels 4 and 5, work is also being done on the CO2-emissions in the chain and sector. A certified organization meets the requirements of the CO at a certain level (and all underlying levels)2-Performance ladder. These requirements stem from four perspectives:
A- Insight: Determining energy flows and CO2-footprint
B- Reduction: developing ambitious goals for CO2-reduction
C- Transparency: Structural communication about the CO2-policy
D- Participation: Participation in initiatives in the sector in the field of CO2-reduction
Each certified organization is audited annually by an independent and accredited Certification Body (CI). As a result, a certified organization has guaranteed a working DCO2-management system for the organization and projects, which is tested annually for ambitions, reduction and continuous improvement.
Commitment is rewarded
Certified companies receive a discount on the entry price of tenders. Companies on the Ladder are rewarded with a concrete award advantage in the tender process. The higher the step, the higher the discount. The contracting authority or client determines the award advantage per level of the Ladder.
